About Capt. Mike Rudder |
|
| |
Captain Mike has been fishing and hunting in the hills of eastern Kentucky
all his life and has had the good fortune to fish Florida Lakes since
1995. Having grown up in eastern Kentucky Mike knows COUNTRY- Country Music, Country
Cooking, Country Bass Fishing and Country Hospitality. "I assure you that I will
do everything possible to provide you with the best day on the water that you
can ever experience".
Capt. Mike has fished the Wal-Mart FLW TOUR and the Stren Series for the
last five years. He has fished with some of the great tournament pros like Guido
Hibdon, Dion Hibdon, Gary Yamamoto, Charlie Ingram, Tommy Biffle, Bernie
Schultz, Dan Morehead, Dean Rojas, Lee Bailey Jr. and Cody Byrd.
During the summer months Capt. Mike fishes the highland lakes he grew up on in
Kentucky and Tennessee. Laurel River Lake, home of the 8lb 7oz Kentucky State
Record Smallmouth taken in 1998.
Capt. Mike and his wife Neva spend their winters at Camp Mack on the canal
Between Lake Toho and Lake Kissimmee Florida fishing
for big Largemouth from his 521 Ranger bass boat on beautiful Lake Toho, and
Lake Kissimmee.
These lakes are known as the Number One bass fishing destinations in the U.S.
because of their great number of quality size fish and the possibility of catching
a 10 to 13 pound bass on any cast. Although good numbers of fish can be taken
with artificial lures, the biggest fish are usually taken on live shiners. Capt.
Mike offers your choice of fishing methods and equipment to catch the bass of
your life time.
He fished for Smallmouth bass in Laurel River before the lake was impounded and
worked on the construction of Laurel River Dam. Wood Creek Lake, also located in
London, Kentucky is the home of the 13lb 10oz Kentucky State Record Largemouth.
Laurel River Lake and Wood Creek Lake give up several 8 to 9 pound Largemouth in
the spring and Laurel River Lake gives up some 20 lb strings of Smallmouth
during the winter and early summer. Capt. Mike offers guided fishing trips on
any of his local lakes during the summer months.
You do not have to be an expert fisherman to enjoy a day on the water with Capt.
Mike’s Bass Country Fishing Adventures. Capt. Mike loves to fish with children
and families as well as with the serious bass fisherman.
"I have loved the outdoors all my life and have fished and hunted all over this
nation. I started fishing my local area lakes like Cumberland, Norris, Douglas,
Dale Hollow and Cherokee when I was a child. I remember great family camping
trips with my parents and later camping and fishing with my wife and two sons,
great times that will forever be in my memory. I occasionally got to fish other
lakes in the south like Eufaula, Harris, Neely Henry, Watts Barr, and Santee
Cooper. I have taken 10 lb. plus bass from both Eufaula and Okeechobee.
After graduating college and a 12-year career with the local Health Department
in London, Kentucky I found that I had plenty of time to fish but not enough
money. I started my own wholesale seed business in 1985 but found then that I
had the money to fish but not enough time. I sold the business in 1998 and
retired in 2000 at age 49.
Over the last several years I have fished from Lake Champlain in New York to the
Everglades and from Beaver Lake in Arkansas to Lake Murray in South Carolina. I
have had two top 25 finishes in the FLW and have fished with and learned from
some of the biggest names in the fishing world. Guido Hibdon, Dion Hibdon, Lee
Bailey Jr., Tommy Biffle, Dan Morehead, Charlie Ingram, Gary Yamamoto, Dean
Rojas, and Bernie Schultz are a few of the ones that I have had the pleasure to
fished with.
Capt. Mike is usually on both Kissimmee and lake Toho at least 4 to 6 days per week October through April. Then
back to Kentucky from May through September, fishing the beautiful Kentucky
Hills lakes.
Give me a call and we’ll take a Bass Country Fishing Adventure together on
beautiful Lake Kissimmee, Lake Toho or the Kentucky area lake of your choice. |
